Return Africa


Return Africa is a South African hospitality group, consisting of a number of independently owned hospitality properties and concepts. They offer a wide variety of accommodations, ranging from luxury safari camps to historical Cape Town boutique hotel properties. The company faced challenges with respect to year-round occupancy, direct (non-OTA) sales, and brand recognition.

We provided extensive market and company research, introducing European prospective customers to the brand and assessing their responses. From there, we provided a step-by-step roadmap geared towards transforming the brand and creating a digital environment both at the front- and back-end. Our main goal was to truly communicate the extreme beauty of the properties, hospitality, and skill of the staff, and inherent lure of South African nature, while at the same time creating a cutting-edge digital back-end that would maximize direct sales advantages, improve off-season occupancy, and decrease staffing costs, training needs, and time allocation.

The project provided numerous challenges due to the vast differences between the properties included in the overarching brand. These differences included location, accommodation style, and mode and manner of booking allocation. Furthermore, the goal of the brand was to stimulate Return Africa’s inclusion in curated trips traveling Sub-Saharan Africa, for which we developed itineraries and clever online booking solutions.
